Thomas Rhett Pauses Concert to Pray For Audience Member Suffering Emergency

News & Politics

Country singer Thomas Rhett stopped his concert mid show to pray over a fan who was suffering a medical emergency on Saturday. Fans on social media praised his faithfulness.

Rhett was performing at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee during his “Home Team Tour 23.” While performing the song “Craving You,” a man in the front row of the audience, Terry, began suffering from a medical emergency.

According to a video posted by a concertgoer on TikTok, when Rhett caught wind of Terry being injured, he went to the side of the stage and asked “any doctors in the house?”

Medical personnel began preparing Terry for transport out of the concert and likely to a nearby hospital. At that moment Rhett did what he knew best. He called on the ultimate physician, the Lord.

“Let’s pray over Terry,” Rhett began when Terry was safely wheeled out on a stretcher.

Father God, we just ask your healing over Terry right now. We know that you are the ultimate physician. We know that you are the ultimate healer… Pray for Terry’s family right now, cause [they’re] pretty scared for Terry – who’s very scared. God we know that you are a miracle worker. We just pray over Terry and his family right now. We ask that everybody in this room, after they leave tonight, will continue to pray for Terry and his family. We love you, we thank you for Jesus. We pray this in His name, Amen.

Immediately after, the audience cheered.

It was definitely a different approach to situations like this. Other performers have stopped performing in the middle of their concerts but normally just scream about water and use lots of cuss words. Rhett knew that the situation was out of his hands but always in His hands so, he surrendered the situation to the Lord.

On Sunday evening, Rhett posted on Twitter that Terry was “home and doing well. He and his family appreciate all the prayers.”

Numerous fans of Rhett were touched by his attention to the situation.

Conservative talk show host of “Dear America,” wrote, “GOD IS THE ULTIMATE HEALER!!!” with a clip of the video. Another thanked Rhett and said, “thanks @ThomasRhett for keeping it Country and being a man of faith. Another amazing show tonight. Forever a fan.” One more wrote, “So much respect for how he handled that.”

This isn’t the first time Rhett has been vocal about his faith and it’s likely it won’t be the last. This is nice to see in such a secular culture that penetrates the entertainment industry.
